As the new year awaits, I’m once again taking this time to reflect on my writings in 2023.
I didn’t write as much as I wanted to. I wanted to write more about my learnings on power in organizations, as I expected to read more and talk to people more about the topic (I didn’t).
But as it is often the case, life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.
So in 2023, I ended up writing much less, even though I almost kept my one-post-per-week pace throughout the year. Instead I ended up designing a lot more – specifically, I did take more time practicing my ambigram design skills, albeit with limited success. I even bought a book about ambigram design!
Now I’m starting to think about 2024 and it’ll be another exciting year:
- I want to practice more ambigram design – sketching on e-ink devices like Kindle Scribe is admittedly pleasurable!
- I’ve got quite some readings on the topic of power and organizations to catch up with.
- I want to continue writing my Ruminations For Aspiring Designers series, which has now become the primary outlet for my thinkings on design (as my focus has shifted slightly away from it).
- I’m specifically looking forward to reading the Why Design is Hard book from Scott Berkun and Bryan Zug.
- I’m also keen to follow the development of Google’s NotebookLM (only available in the U.S. for now), an experiment with thought-provoking implications.
Most important of all – thank you very much for reading my blog this year!
